recently interviewed Lia I., a member of the girls’ robotics team. The answers I got were out of this world! She told me all about this season’s statistics.

The theme for this year’s competition was, “Into Orbit” or “Space Travel”. My second question was, “What was the goal during this robotics season?” Her answer was, “There were tasks that our robot had to accomplish. We also had to continue working on the core values and integrating what we learned into daily life.”

The third question I asked her was, “How many different tasks did the robot have to accomplish”? Her response was, “The robot performed two runs. The runs completed about seven missions in all.”  This year’s team members were four seventh graders: Rachel P., Keira M., Ella C., and Lia and two new members: Amber C. and Adithi S. from the fifth-grade class.

The competition was at DeMatha High School. Our team received a second-place trophy for exhibiting core values well. My final question for Lia was: “How long did you have to prepare for the competition”? Her answer was:” We had practiced for two to three hours a few days a week. Practices began about four months ago”. The girls worked extraordinarily hard and we are proud of them.
