Inclement Weather
In the event of serious inclement weather, St. Mary's School follows all the directives given for Montgomery County Public Schools. These announcements are made on local radio and television stations.
In the event that Montgomery County Public Schools are closed for a Professional Day, the Archdiocese of Washington will make a decision the previous evening. Please listen to local radio (WTOP-103.5 FM) and local television stations. The television station may make the announcement under the Archdiocese of Washington and/or Montgomery County.
Please follow these schedule changes when applicable:
- Delayed Opening: On any day that there is a one-hour delay in the opening of schools - St. Mary's will open at 8:30 a.m. When there is a two-hour delay - St. Mary's will open at 9:30 a.m.
- Early Dismissal: If Montgomery County announces that schools will close one hour early - we will dismiss at 2:00 p.m. For a two-hour early closing - we will dismiss at 1:00 p.m.
- Delayed Opening on Half Day Schedule: In the event that St. Mary's is scheduled to have an 11:30 a.m. dismissal, and it is announced that schools are opening two hours late, St. Mary's will open at 9:45 a.m. and dismiss at 1:00 p.m. For a one hour delay, we will start at 8:45 a.m. and dismiss at 11:30 a.m.
- All Afternoon and Evening Activities: In the event that Montgomery County Public Schools announces that all afternoon and evening activities are canceled, St. Mary's Aftercare will be closed. Please pick your children up as soon as you possibly can.
Other Emergencies
Should emergency situations arise that would affect only St. Mary's School, you will be notified either by radio, television, e-mail, or the phone tree.
